SumTotal at HR Tech

The Human Resources Technology Conference and Exposition (HR Tech) featuring Women in HR Technology is one of the most significant events on the HCM calendar. Over 5,000 industry professionals gather to learn all about the latest in HCM technologies. This year the event took place from September 11 – 14 at The Venetian in Las Vegas. As always, “HR Tech” affords everyone working in HR or related industries to gather together and discover all the newest and most innovative ways technology is helping to transform our industry.

SumTotal was there in force with over 40 employees in attendance. To welcome everyone to our booth on Tuesday evening, one of SumTotal’s new partners HelloSign, supplied mouth-watering and colorful donuts and other sweet treats. It was a busy three days during which we spoke to customers, demonstrated our products and met with analysts.

On Tuesday night, we hosted a lively party at Chica, one of The Venetian’s newest restaurants. The party offered the vibrant flavors of Latin cuisine and some great Latin sounds making it the ideal venue to network and even receive a lesson in how to do the SumTotal Samba.

To keep the party going, we offered attendees the opportunity to “No room in your bag? Drink your swag.”

On Thursday, Debasis Dutta, vice president and general manager for SumTotal, and Tara O’Sullivan, chief marketing officer for Skillsoft and SumTotal, held the audience’s full attention during the “Awesome New Technologies” part of the conference. Debasis and Tara demonstrated how SumTotal integrates with the latest virtual reality technology from STRIVR to take corporate learning to a new orbit.

I’m also delighted to say that two SumTotal customers, PSAV and Cox Enterprises spoke at the event. In a presentation at the SumTotal booth, Derek Blake, senior director, Global Learning at PSAV explained how PSAV went from an unstructured and informal career development process to a systemized career development process using SumTotal Learning Management and Skillsoft content. You can read the case study and watch Derek tell the story in his own words. Marienne Bernardes, director of leadership development and chair of the Learning & Development Advisory Council, and Soraya Kassamali, senior director, leadership development and chair of the Learning & Development Advisory Council, both of Cox Enterprises led a session on From Many to One: One Vision, One Governance, One Transformed Learning Experience. During this presentation, Marienne and Soraya explained how to guide an organization through large-scale change and why it is critical to consider governance at all levels in decision making.

Although it is an exhausting few days, HR Tech was such a rewarding experience that I highly recommend that you start making plans to attend next year’s conference. I do want to acknowledge that as always, the reason for our success is the work and commitment of our employees, executives, product leaders and sales team. I want to thank our marketing team for all their remarkable achievements. Our presence this year exceeded the incredible experience we delivered last year – congratulations!
