SmartStart to ToolBook 10

This training is designed to get you started with ToolBook using the Smart features within ToolBook 10. Smart features include SmartPages and SmartStyles: prebuilt pages and visual treatments designed to allow rapid development of content. It will also get you started with some of the other key development tools within ToolBook, such as the Catalog and the Book Explorer.

Course Objectives

After completing this course, learners will be able to:

  • Develop courseware using SmartPages and Styles
  • Add different types of content such as text, media, and images to pages
  • Add voice narration to pages
  • Customize pages and objects
  • Reuse custom objects to speed up development
  • Create a test with different types of questions
  • Package your course for Web deployment
  • Convert PowerPoint presentations to ToolBook courses

Class Details

Format: Instructor-led class
Duration: 2-day onsite or 3 x ½ -day Virtual

In the 2-day onsite class, the instructor will review your content and course requirements and work with you to create a workflow and jump start content development.
The virtual class will cover the course objectives listed above.

Materials: Includes the following:

  • Training Guide: A guide with concepts and exercises to be used during the training
  • Workflow and Reference Guide: Comprehensive guide covering essential features of ToolBook 10 with conceptual and procedural information
  • CD with class files: Contains all the files that you will need during the training to build courses as well as several additional resources

Prerequisites

Prerequisites for this course include:

  • Meeting the basic system and connection requirements necessary to view and participate in the training, including:
    • Hardware Requirements: Intel Pentium® processor (or compatible) processor 500 MHz, 256 megabytes (MB) of Random Access Memory (RAM), 150 MB or more free hard disk space (up to 310 MB for all optional components).
    • Bandwidth Requirements: 256+ Kbps connection.
    • Proficiency using a Web browser.
    • Basic Windows knowledge, including the ability to:
      • Launch applications using the Start menu.
      • Use the taskbar to switch between Windows applications.
      • Use Windows Explorer, to navigate the file structure, change the view of file listings, move and copy files, and create new folders (or directories).

Please do not make travel arrangements until Educational Services contacts you and confirms your registration and payment.

Cancellation Policy: Classes are filled on a first-come first-served basis; your seat is guaranteed only when we receive your full payment or purchase order. Occasionally, circumstances require us to reschedule or cancel a class. In such an event we will notify you in writing via email at least 10 working days before the first day of class. Also, if a class is rescheduled or canceled by SumTotal Systems, you may request a refund or apply the fee to any other SumTotal course. We recommend that you do not purchase your airfare until at least 10 working days prior to the start of class so as not to incur unnecessary airfare charges in the event a class is cancelled.

Please note there is no cancellation  fee if the activity is cancelled by Sumtotal or if cancelled by you, before the Cancellation deadline (10 business days prior to start date).  After the cancellation deadline expires, there is no refund allowed.
