ToolBook Comprehensive

This class brings together the entire ToolBook introductory curriculum into one 4-day class event. Attendees will be immersed in hands-on activities to create courses, assessments and software simulations. In addition to working with common ToolBook elements like buttons, text fields, images, media players and more, attendees will learn how to add and customize interactions using the Actions Editor, share templates via the Catalog, and begin to effectively utilize ToolBook to its fullest potential.

  • Build enhanced interactivity using the Actions Editor
  • Create content drill-down objects using Actions Editor script
  • Understand important best practices, tips, and tricks for the coding process
  • Explore the Actions Editor interface, how the Actions Editor works in general, and what it outputs
  • Add more functionality and interactivity to Catalog objects and templates

  • Create events that occur in time with audio
  • Create custom LMS communication behaviors with the Actions Editor by setting up custom Exit buttons

  • Develop simulations that can be used to demonstrate features, give learners opportunities to practice steps, and test learners on their interactions
  • Add instructions and feedback to simulations
  • Add custom functionality to simulations to make objects hide and show, and respond to specific simulation events
  • Create an application recording using the Sim AutoBuilder Recorder
  • Generate and modify simulations from Sim AutoBuilder recordings
  • Make simulation templates to speed up the development process

Class Details

Format: Instructor-led class
Duration: 4-day Onsite
Materials: Includes the following:

  • Training Guide: A guide with concepts and exercises to be used during the training
  • Workflow and Reference Guide: Comprehensive guide covering essential features of ToolBook 10.5
  • CD with class files: Contains all the files that you will need during the training to build courses as well as several additional resources

Day 2: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. EST
Day 3: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. EST
Day 4: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. EST

Prerequisites

Basic Windows knowledge, including the ability to:

  • Create and use shortcuts on the desktop.
  • Launch applications using the Start menu.
  • Launch Accessories, such as Notepad and Microsoft Paint.
  • Use the task bar to switch between Windows applications.
  • Use Windows Explorer to navigate the file structure, change the view of file listings, move and copy files, and create new folders (or directories).
  • Use a Web browser.
  • Use Windows-based software such as Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
  • Distinguish between different media file formats (audio, video, graphic).

Additional Information


Note: All classes in Atlanta, Gainesville and Mountain View will be held from 9 AM to 4 PM local time. Timings for the virtual classes are from 9 AM to 1 PM PST.

Please do not make travel arrangements until Educational Services contacts you and confirms your registration and payment.

Cancellation Policy: Classes are filled on a first-come first-served basis; your seat is guaranteed only when we receive your full payment or purchase order. Occasionally, circumstances require us to reschedule or cancel a class. In such an event we will notify you in writing via email at least 10 working days before the first day of class. Also, if a class is rescheduled or canceled by SumTotal Systems, you may request a refund or apply the fee to any other SumTotal course. We recommend that you do not purchase your airfare until at least 10 working days prior to the start of class so as not to incur unnecessary airfare charges in the event a class is cancelled.

Please note there is no cancellation  fee if the activity is cancelled by Sumtotal or if cancelled by you, before the Cancellation deadline (10 business days prior to start date).  After the cancellation deadline expires, there is no refund allowed.
