What is Completely Custom?

Complete customization puts the power of creating custom courseware for your online training needs in your hands. There are no restrictive templates or enforced limitations – your options for individualized educational courseware are countless. Your specialized content will be incorporated into a customized eLearning program that will meet the training goals you need to accomplish, from effective retention to advanced critical decision-making, through use of unique interactive content and media. Customized courseware authored through Completely Custom can contain streaming video, 3-D graphics, customized animations and professionally recorded audio narration.

Levels of Learning

Custom Content Courseware can be created for each of the levels of learning (knowledge, comprehension, and application). The choice of learning level is driven by the specific course objectives. Once this has been determined, the level of interactivity and media can be selected. The degree and complexity of these elements is directly related to overall cost and development time.

This course was created to differentiate instructional and visual design approaches used for Level 1, 2 and 3. To make this differentiation more clear, we have presented the same topic at all three levels consecutively. Please note that the player, the graphical user interface (GUI), and navigation have been kept the same for all three levels.

Interactivity and Media

A completely custom course can be developed to any one of the three levels of interactivity and media.

Level 1

This level is ideal for the recall of simple fact-based information. Its interface is similar to basic Windows functions such as “click to display” and “click to reveal.” A learner can experience interactivity in the form of: pop-ups, rollovers, simple animations, multiple choice exercises and true/false quizzes. This level uses simple and effective media content to activate the learner’s senses and increase retention. It will feature client-provided images, fonts, and sound effects as well as stock images and graphics.

This text-driven course was created for an association of peri-operative nurses. The instructional approach presents key concepts visually by using images, schematic diagrams, illustrations and videos. The interactivity in the course is limited to click-and-reveal and mouse rollovers. Most of the screens are purely text and image screens, making this a Level 1 course.

Part of a blended-learning solution, this online course helped customer-facing employees improve their service delivery. This course’s technically simplistic approach illustrates how solid design and intentional interactivity can increase overall effectiveness. The interactivity is limited to click-and-reveal, scenario-based questions and suggested Quick Activities which can be completed offline. Most of the screens are purely text and image screens, making this a Level 1 course.

Level 2

Level 2 Learning is nuanced, promoting a deeper understanding of content. It is ideal for acquiring, interpreting and explaining new information. The interactive techniques commonly used are drag and drop, fill in the blank, matching, click to reveal and reflection exercises.  Often, Level 2 courses contain scenario-based multiple choice and interactive animations.  This level frequently deploys complex media content that can feature customized images, simple 2-D illustrations, objects, charts, icons, graphs, as well as professional audio narration.

This audio-driven safety compliance course is visually rich and uses interactive screen elements to make it as effective and engaging for the learner as possible. The course makes optimum use of simple, click-and-reveal interactivities, short animations, and knowledge check questions to present content. Therefore, this is a Level 2 course.

This audio-driven course is designed for truck and tanker drivers. Therefore, a truck driver is used as an anchor who presents important tips and notes to learners. The course blends effective animations and high-end interactivities to illustrate various causes of tanker rollovers in a visually engaging manner. The interactivity in the course is limited to click-and-reveal and simple, short animations. Because content is presented and learners are assessed at the Comprehension level, this is a Level 2 course.

Level 3

Interactive learner engagement options at Level 3 include: completing text entry boxes; manipulating graphic objects; investigating branching exercises; and taking part in games and application simulations. This level utilizes sophisticated media content, such as 3-D graphics, streaming videos, customized animations, photos and charts to immerse learners in content which requires critical thinking and complex problem solving. Multiple professional voiceover artists may be utilized..

This short, audio-driven course was created for those interested in the global recession. In the course, the characters you see are not animated or illustrated. They are actually clay models created by in-house designers and artists. The course also uses a very interesting story-based approach which helped present technical and theoretical content in an engaging manner. The course includes click-and-reveal interactivities and conceptual and process animations making this a Level 3 course.

This audio-driven product training course presents features and applications of a Cisco phone. This course blends highly-engaging interactivities with audio-visual feedback to present effective simulations. Simulations are presented in both Demo (Show Me) and Practice (Let Me Try) modes for effective learner retention. The key instructional approach used here is “Learning by Doing”.
