Goal Management

The Goal Management module ensures every employee is focused on objectives that fit in line with an organization’s core strategy. Using a cascading goal structure, every employee’s key goals can align with the rest of the organization. Employees have a clear line of sight to strategic organizational objectives, and executives and managers can easily review team and individual performance against goals. Goal Management also promotes effective and immediate two-way communication. The hierarchical goal structure allows easy alignment among organizational goals, departmental goals, and individual goals.

Performance Appraisals

SumTotal provides entirely Web-based performance appraisals that automate and calibrate your performance appraisal process to improve appraisal accuracy, compliance, and overall employee performance. ResultsOnDemand – Performance transforms your annual or quarterly performance appraisal event into a mainstream, daily activity. Based on the best-practices of hundreds of companies, the solution uses prescribed performance appraisal workflows.

Multi-Rater Feedback

The ability to incorporate ‘Multi-Rater’ feedback into performance management workflows allows users to give and receive feedback from multiple individuals throughout the organization. Individuals receive balanced feedback from multiple sources and provide performance input for co-workers and other employees.

Calibration

ResultsOnDemand provides a powerful data-calibration tool that allows managers to view individuals across multiple supervisors in a comparative context. This tool provides a flexible, easy-to-use method for the executive team to edit and approve ratings given to employees, resulting in consistent application of standards. Any ratings changes made during the calibration process are tracked, so a thorough audit trail is always available.

Leadership Competency Model

The SumTotal Leadership Competency Model was developed to identify the most critical fundamental competencies necessary for successful leaders. The model includes 16 key competencies in six categories with descriptions and detailed supporting behaviors for each competency, as well as a competency-based developmental library containing coaching suggestions and recommended resources such as books, videos, tapes, and Web links.
 
Additionally, for job-specific competencies, customers may import their own existing competency framework, leverage third-party off-the-shelf content, or work with one of SumTotal’s competency partners.

Individual Development Plans

In addition to tracking organizational goals, employees can also use ResultsOnDemand – Performance to track personal development goals for career planning. Individual development plans integrate with the leadership competency model, which allows employees to leverage a resource library with thousands of developmental resources.

Career & Succession Planning

The Career & Succession Planning module enables you to assess current talent and plan for the future. Performance rankings and data on employee potential can be gathered through talent assessment surveys, or can be fed into the talent planning process from an existing performance appraisal. Supervisors and HR, with granted permission, can instantly access an employee's current position summary, targeted positions and succession paths.

The career summary includes performance history and ratings regarding potential, along with links to related performance reviews. Employees can target multiple future positions and view gap analysis reports that detail developmental needs to reach targeted positions. An online résumé, created and maintained by employees, supervisors and human resource administrators, can be accessed when searching the employee database for succession candidates.

ResultsOnDemand – Learning (Learning Management System) Integration

ResultsOnDemand – Performance integrates with ResultsOnDemand – Learning to provide a powerful talent management integration that enables workflows from performance appraisals and goals to the Learning Management System. Users may align learning activities with developmental goals, align related learning activities from a performance appraisal, and rate skills and/or competencies that tie into the Learning Management System. Intelligent integration logic, based on an employee’s job and organization, ensures only relevant learning opportunities are tied to the employee’s goals and performance appraisal.

Reporting and Analytics

ResultsOnDemand’s reporting functionality gathers integrated data from multiple modules for sophisticated analytics. SumTotal is constantly updating its standard library of hundreds of graphical, easy-to-interpret reports in three general categories: Individual, Operational and Executive. ResultsOnDemand dashboards provide information at a glance to any audience you choose.

Visual Profiler®

Only SumTotal can offer this patented drag-and-drop assessment technology that makes the performance management system more intuitive, easier-to-use, and more effective for data accuracy. Multiple functions within the software are more intuitive, including: rating employee performance, rating employee potential, assessing skills gaps, calibrating performance and administering employee satisfaction.

Legal Minder™

SumTotal's Legal Minder™ language scanner flags potentially risky language, offering guidelines and alternative wording for performance appraisal writers. As easy as using a spell check, Legal Minder can analyze one comment or an entire appraisal. Legal Minder can also be set to filter at various levels of strictness.

Email Reminders

ResultsOnDemand – Performance provides a very sophisticated yet easy-to-use email notification module, which reminds users of events, milestones and deadlines related to performance processes. Email notification pushes information out to the users' e-mail inboxes, so they do not have to log into the application.

The automated email functionality is fully integrated into the system workflow and can trigger email notifications without requiring administrative intervention. Customers have full control over content and mailing lists, as well as how and when notices go out.

Systems Integration

SumTotal has years of experience extracting and exchanging data with all kinds of systems, including most HR systems like Oracle/ PeopleSoft, SAP and a myriad of in-house systems. On an ongoing basis, your ResultsOnDemand dashboards, reports and other functions may include performance-related data from external systems like financial, sales compensation and absence tracking systems and even Balanced Scorecard systems.
