U.K.-based Addenbrooke's Hospital Picks SumTotal to Boost Workplace Performance

Mountain View, Calif. – December 13, 2005 – SumTotal™ Systems (Nasdaq: SUMT), the largest provider of learning and business performance technologies and services, announced that Addenbrooke's Hospital, a prestigious three-star NHS Foundation Trust based in Cambridge, United Kingdom, has launched SumTotal’s LMS as its core system to manage the learning and development of its staff and to deliver assessment and measurement of all learning undertaken at the hospital. Implemented by SumTotal’s U.K.-based partner Learning Management Services, Addenbrooke’s selected SumTotal because of its potential for ROI.

With today’s news, Addenbrooke’s becomes the third in a string of European customers, the others being Inmarsat and Lloyds TSB, who have announced their use of SumTotal’s solution in recent weeks.

With approximately 1,100 beds, Addenbrooke's Hospital employs over 8,400 staff dedicated to the provision of a wide range of clinical and non-clinical services. The hospital contains over 50 specialized departments, all previously managing and administrating their own learning and development activities.

Centralizing all learning within the hospital is expected to deliver significant efficiencies in terms of management and administration costs, and to enable a greater focus on the learning needs of the individual as well as the organization itself. Indeed, the introduction of bite-sized e-learning modules, accessible to staff directly from hospital wards, is already set to improve staff productivity, motivation and moral, believes Divanis.
