See the Future at SumTotal Systems’ User Conference

Annual high-tech event highlights the “value in the connection”

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. – August 16, 2006 – SumTotal® Systems (Nasdaq: SUMT), its partners and a line-up of experts and visionaries will bring the future of learning and performance to HR and training professionals at TotalConnection 2006. TotalConnection 2006 lands at the Fairmont San Jose hotel in San Jose, Calif., from September 25 - 27, 2006.

“This event offers our 1,500 customers from around the globe an unparalleled chance to network, comment on the direction of our product,“ said Don Fowler, chief executive of SumTotal, “and see the future of what learning can be.”

Headlining the user conference is renowned global futurist, social scientist, author, and sought-after business advisor Dr. James Canton. Canton’s keynote address, “The Extreme Future: Top Trends that will Re-shape Business and Society,” will provide a look at the top trends that will shape the future, including the future of climate, energy, technology, the workforce, security, the economy, life sciences, demographics, entertainment and lifestyles.

In addition to Dr. Canton’s keynote, TotalConnection 2006 features e-learning, workplace performance and training experts from BMW, British Telecom (BT), Defense Acquisition University, Holland America Line, NEC, Southwest Airlines and St. Luke's Medical Center. Along with these experts, there will be hundreds of ways for attendees to network with their peers from within and across industries such as banking, health care and government.

  • Cushing Anderson, program director of IDC's Corporate Learning and Performance Research, will present on the relationship between performance and talent management. Anderson will explain how organizations can use tools to build high-performing organizations. He will also discuss the future of learning, including the concept of "hyper-relevance” and “reference-based education systems.”
  • Kevin Smith, worldwide partner manager for Google’s Enterprise Division, will discuss the recent partnership forged by SumTotal Systems and Google. Smith will demonstrate the new Google search capabilities within SumTotal’s learning management system (LMS).
  • Tom Person, Adobe’s senior web and e-learning evangelist, will discuss how the new integration between SumTotal Systems and Adobe will let users schedule, deploy, join and track key data from online meetings, training courses and on-demand presentations..
In addition to the conference Welcome Reception, SumTotal invites attendees to the TotalConnection 2006 Excellence Awards Dinner. During the dinner, SumTotal will highlight nominees’ innovation and creativity as well as fete this year’s winners.
