MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA (February 22, 2005) - SumTotal Systems (NASDAQ: SUMT), the industry’s largest provider of learning and business performance technologies, services and processes, today announced that QUALCOMM Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), a leader in providing wireless data solutions, has chosen the SumTotal Enterprise Suite to manage portions of its training and certification programs for its QUALCOMM Wireless Business Solutions (QWBS) division.
QUALCOMM will use SumTotal 7.0 to offer training to its employees and partners through a single portal, moving beyond current online and on-site training offerings. SumTotal 7.0 will be used initially to manage a variety of learning activities, including blending virtual classrooms, recorded sessions, online assessments, and custom content. In addition, QUALCOMM will use the SumTotal platform to implement certification programs for employees and third-party partners.
“Utilizing SumTotal 7.0, our goal is to maximize return-on-investment and overall efficiencies for QWBS employees, managers, and partners by streamlining access to training programs,” said Traci Schaible, senior manager, Product Support Training for QUALCOMM Wireless Business Solutions. “Our selection of SumTotal 7.0 was focused on features that we felt directly addressed these business requirements.”
“Clearly QUALCOMM is one of the most recognized and respected names in wireless business solutions,” said Andy Eckert, chief executive officer for SumTotal. “We’re excited about this initiative not only because we are powering a solution that we expect will be of value to QUALCOMM, but also because it is further evidence of a trend we are seeing in the industry. Many organizations, from several different industries, are recognizing how powerful learning can be in driving revenue and performance when targeted at external audiences. SumTotal 7.0, with our flexible and scalable architecture, is the perfect match for most of these applications and we expect to see this area of the industry be a real catalyst for growth for us over the next few years. We’re looking forward to having QUALCOMM as a top success story for us in this important arena.”
