Worldwide Graphics Processing Leader, NVIDIA Corporation, Chooses SumTotal to Automate and Streamline Enterprise-Wide Learning Initiatives

NVIDIA will use TotalLMS to improve training registration and related reporting processes and develop online learning resources for field and international employees

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA (October 18, 2004) – SumTotal Systems (NASDAQ: SUMT), the industry’s largest provider of learning and business performance technologies, services and processes, today announced that NVIDIA Corporation, a worldwide leader in graphics and digital media processors, has chosen SumTotal to streamline and automate the administration of its learning programs and to develop the NVIDIA Learning Center—a one-stop shop for development opportunities.

According to Susan Pilgrim, learning and development manager for NVIDIA, the company historically has created and administered its learning programs manually. Following a rapid rate of global growth over the past few years, the company sought a solution to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of how it administers learning activities throughout the organization in order to meet the needs of a geographically dispersed workforce.

“NVIDIA is a fast-growing, fast-changing company and it’s critical that we support the company in making a difference on behalf of the business,” added Pilgrim. “The NVIDIA Learning Center will help us increase proficiency across our entire organization and to better align learning and development activities with specific business objectives.”

Initially, NVIDIA will use a hosted version of SumTotal’s TotalLMS to streamline registration and reporting processes associated with its curriculum, which includes both instructor-led and online courses on performance management, communication skills and team management. Moving forward, the company plans to use TotalLMS in combination with the ToolBook simulation and content authoring solution to roll out a Web-based learning environment to the company worldwide.

Pilgrim added that over the long term, NVIDIA may expand the NVIDIA Learning Center to address a wide variety of business, performance and compliance issues, including internal IT systems training as well as OSHA, legal and financial compliance training.

“SumTotal provided a great out-of-the-box solution that we could get up and running quickly without a lot of customization. At the same time, the SumTotal Suite has tremendous capabilities that we can tap into as our learning needs become more sophisticated,” said Pilgrim. “We believe SumTotal’s solutions are an ideal long-term investment for us, because we can get value from them immediately, but they also have the capability to scale smoothly as NVIDIA continues to grow and expand around the world.”
