MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA (October 6, 2004) -- SumTotal Systems (NASDAQ:SUMT), the industry's largest provider of learning and business performance technologies, services and processes, in conjunction with Bernard Julhiet Interactive, its partner in France, today announced that Accor Group, one of the world’s largest international hotel chains, has chosen the SumTotal Enterprise Suite to back Academie Accor, the company’s international training center, which currently offers in-house training to more than 40,000 Accor employees.
Accor will use SumTotal’s Total LMS (Learning Management System) to manage the learning and development programs it offers to its employees in France and internationally, ranging from corporate management to regional and on-site employees such as regional directors, hotel general managers, receptionists, waiters, etc. The Academie’s course offerings include IT, operational skills, finance, sales and marketing, management and customer relations.
“Accor’s corporate learning and development program has played a key role in our long history of satisfied customers and employees and in building our reputation for outstanding service,” said Hervé Bertrand, general manager of Academie Accor. “With SumTotal, we can ensure that everyone at Accor – from upper management to staff who have daily, one-on-one contact with our guests -- will have the critical information and training they need to excel at their day-to-day jobs.”
This year, Accor, which manages nearly 4000 hotels in around 90 countries, also will use SumTotal’s language capabilities to expand the Academie into other global markets, rolling out native language training programs in Germany, Belgium, The Netherlands, Brazil, Great Britain, Asia and Scandinavia.
“For leisure and hospitality providers like Accor Hotels, every customer interaction is an opportunity for the company to add value, strengthen relationships and ensure repeat business – all of which contribute to long-term profitability,” said R. Andrew Eckert, SumTotal CEO. “SumTotal provides the right tools to support employees in these critical customer-facing roles, rapidly and efficiently delivering training and information to maximize job proficiency and effectiveness, while minimizing time away from serving guests.”
