SumTotal Improves OSHA and JCAHO Training to Ensure Employee Adherence to Regulatory Mandates
MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA – (March 29, 2004) – SumTotal Systems™ (NASDAQ: SUMT), the business performance and learning technology industry's largest provider of technologies, processes and services, today announced that WakeMed, a health system based in Raleigh, NC, has implemented SumTotal Enterprise Suite to track regulatory compliance and certification training among its nurses, technologists, and medical support staff. WakeMed is relying on SumTotal to provide on-line education and track the regulatory training requirements to ensure its entire staff meets government compliance standards.
Many of the annual training requirements can now be met on-line 24 hours a day, seven days a week for all WakeMed employees regardless of which of the eight WakeMed campuses the employee works. A mandatory certificate program has been assigned to each employee requiring training. Computers have been designated in both department and computer lab locations for staff to use without interfering with patient care. In addition, the SumTotal solution allows for both purchased content and internally developed presentations to be on the system therefore providing procedure and equipment specific training.
SumTotal also helps WakeMed employees access instructor led and on-line programs by providing a catalog of all educational programs offered and an easy to use registration system. It also allows the employee and his/her manager to design a developmental plan unique to that employee which ultimately leads to a more skilled workforce.
In addition to improving the efficiency and effectiveness of staff learning, SumTotal provides WakeMed management a reliable and accurate tracking method to ensure government standards are communicated and employees are properly certified. WakeMed has the ability to easily provide detailed certification compliance reports to regulatory bodies. In the highly competitive and regulated healthcare industry, compliance management is a critical facet of business since organizations face significant economic and legal consequences for noncompliance.
“SumTotal Enterprise Suite has not only helped us save time but also helps to ensure our employees are getting the training they need. The learning management system has consolidated our training records and made it easier to track the individual programs that our employees have completed,” said Susan Jackson, Director, Staff Development and Training, WakeMed. “Our SumTotal investment is assisting us with improving staff performance and ensuring compliance with government regulations.
“SumTotal Enterprise Suite compliance and certification solutions are a rapidly growing part of our business,” said R. Andrew Eckert, president and CEO, SumTotal Systems. “We continue to have tremendous success helping companies in life science, healthcare and other regulated industries meet the challenging requirements for compliance with unparalleled tracking, reporting, and auditing capabilities combined with industry-specific content and implementation best practices.”
