As senior vice president of engineering, Murray Laidley and his team are responsible for not only designing and developing SumTotal’s software but also ensuring the award-winning platform’s quality. Laidley leads a worldwide team that overseas the architecture, technology and infrastructure for SumTotal’s talent management software suite.

He brings over 25 years of technology experience to SumTotal, and has held senior-level IT positions for the past 15 years. Recently, he was vice president of research and development for data analysis products at Seattle-based Insightful, where he led software engineering, quality assurance, documentation, engineering services and architecture for an integrated family of enterprise software products for statistical analysis and reporting.

Prior to his role at Insightful, Laidley was vice president of technology for Seattle-headquartered Qpass. At Qpass, in order to launch the company’s product line, he created and implemented processes for software development, quality assurance and delivery.

Laidley's previous experience includes positions at Texas Instruments, Halliburton Company and McGraw-Hill's School System Division.

He received his bachelor's degree in Geophysics from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada.
