Leadership Team

John Borgerding is Chief Executive Officer of SumTotal Systems and provides extensive leadership advancing the company’s complete talent management strategy, while ensuring continued customer success and a focus on delivering real business value to our global customer base.

Before assuming his current role, Borgerding served as executive vice president of global operations at Ventyx, a leading business solutions provider to global energy, utility, communications, and other asset-intensive organizations. At Ventyx, he was responsible for the development, implementation, support and consulting for all Ventyx solutions globally.  In addition, Borgerding was responsible for the advisory solutions and consulting practices, and intelligence software products.

Prior to taking over the global services organizations, Borgerding served as the vice president of international sales and was based in the Ventyx UK office for four years.  In this capacity, Borgerding was successful in building an international sales and marketing organization and extending the Ventyx customer base into multiple new markets and countries.

Borgerding was with Ventyx and its predecessor company, Indus International, since 2002.  Prior to joining Ventyx, Borgerding spent seven years at Xerox Corporation in sales, product management and sales management.  As director of sales for major accounts he was responsible for leading a team to sell hardware, software and outsourcing solutions.

Borgerding holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Missouri.
