Senior Software Design Engineer – Web Technologies

General Summary

The Engineer will be involved in the analysis, design, development, troubleshooting, debugging, and maintenance of SumTotal LMS product. He/She will be a part of the core product development team and work closely with the other teams like PA (Product Analyst), QA (Quality Assurance) etc. The broad areas of focus will be to design, implement, and integrate customer requirements into the main product.

Essential Job Functions

The Engineer must be able to work collaboratively with our offices across the globe and take enough initiative to solve a problem in his/her area of ownership and beyond.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Strong understanding of Internet and Intranet architecture
• Experience in database programming and building web applications with database connectivity
• Experience with HTML tools, ASP.NET, Javascript, .Net Technologies, SQL Server 2005/2000 and Oracle 9i/10g
• Exposure to design/implementation of application using n-tier architecture.
• Ability to debug and work with unfamiliar code to fix root cause of problems that might be reported.
• Exposure to design of modules/subsystems of web based applications
• Ability to contribute individually and work well with minimal supervision
• Ability to work well with a team, work optimally under scheduled deadlines, and have passion for delivering high quality output
• Good problem solving skills
• Strong communication skills

Education, Training and Minimum Qualifications

• 4 year degree in engineering, computer science, MIS or equivalent
• Minimum 4 years of experience
