Senior Software Design Engineer (Sustained Engineering)

Job Description

The engineer will be involved in the investigation, debugging, troubleshooting, development and resolution of issues in the Aspen enterprise system. He / she will work closely with other development and QA teams. The broad areas of focus will be to create hot fixes and follow processes to incorporate the fixes into the main product.
Responsibilities

• Provide reliable resolution of critical and high impact problems for SumTotal’s corporate customers by creating hot fixes for SumTotal’s enterprise system
• Use trace analysis, source code, and other sophisticated debugging tools to analyze problems and develop solutions to meet customer needs; will involve writing code.
• The engineer must be able to work collaboratively with our offices across the globe and take enough initiative to solve a problem in the area of his / her ownership or beyond.
• Serve as mentor and trainer to lesser experienced engineers

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• A strong understanding of Internet and intranet architecture. Strong experience in database programming and building web applications with database connectivity.
• Technical skills: HTML, ASP, XML, Visual Basic 6, JavaScript, VB Script, .Net technologies, SQL Server7.0/2000 and / or Oracle, knowledge of IIS
• Must be familiar with debugging code using Visual Interdev / Visual Basic.
• The ideal candidate is an individual contributor who works with minimal supervision.
• An excellent team player able to work optimally under schedule deadlines and has passion for technology excellence and delivering results.
• B.Sc/BE/BTech/ME/MTech in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical discipline preferred.

• Minimum experience: 4 years
• Maximum experience: 8 years
• Minimum Qualification: B.Sc/BE/BTech/ME/MTech in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical discipline preferred
