Senior Software Design Engineer – Database Programmer

General Summary

The Engineer will be involved in the analysis, design, development, troubleshooting, debugging, and maintenance of SumTotal LMS product. He/She will be a part of the core product development team and work closely with the other teams like PA, QA etc. The broad areas of focus will be to design, implement, and integrate customer requirements into the main product.

Essential Job Functions

The Engineer must be able to work collaboratively with our offices across the globe and take enough initiative to solve a problem in his/her area of ownership and beyond.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Experience with SQL Server 2005/2000 T-SQL, Oracle 9i/10g PL/SQL
• Exposure to internals of DB architecture will be a definite plus
• Ability to inspect code to find performance problems before they occur
• Experience with performance tuning of queries
• Exposure to database design processes and tools is desirable
• Ability to contribute individually and work well with minimal supervision
• Ability to work well with a team, work optimally under scheduled deadlines, and have passion for delivering high quality output
• Good problem solving skills
• Strong communication skills

Education, Training and Minimum Qualifications

• 4 year degree in engineering, computer science, MIS or equivalent
• Minimum 4 years of experience
