QA Senior Software Design Engineer

General Summary

SumTotal Systems provides business performance improving products, services and solutions that help customers increase revenues, decrease expenses and reduce operational cycle time. We provide an integrated suite of business performance management applications that help customers deliver, manage and measure learning to solve specific business problems. The Engineer will be part of the team delivering quality SumTotal products. Responsibilities include Quality assurance of software, and actively participate in all phases of SDLC.

Essential Job Functions

• Provide essential support to team to ensure the quality of the product
• Develop and execute Test plans, Use cases and Test cases. Judge and report quality of deliverables
• Be able to estimate effort and effectively prioritize and schedule resources to meet project deadlines
• Define Test Strategy and Test Plan for owned features
• Independently assess quality and provide feedback, suggest process improvements/methodologies.
• Work closely on the design and specification of features with development team.
• Review test scripts to emulate scenarios that will likely be encountered by the actual customers.
• Able to define framework for automation needs
• Use test automation frameworks to automate test cases and use cases.
• Able to manage project / features for small to medium teams and achieve results through teamwork and collaboration within team and other departments
• Mentor team members in Product, Process and Technology.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Good at reviewing functional, design and test specifications
• Awareness of SCRUM or agile processes will be a value add
• Able to take decisions about the impact of defects on customer scenarios and prioritize accordingly.
• A prior experience in programming is desirable
• Continuous display of initiation, innovation, results oriented, customer focus and team work
• Preferred Tools and Technologies: ASP, C#, .NET, Oracle, SQL server, XML, SilkTest, WebLoad, Bug tracking tools
• Strong logical, analytical and problem solving skills.
• A desire to be on a highly productive, fast-paced team. Should be able to handle adverse situations and take charge.

Education, Training and Minimum Qualifications

• At least 4 years of experience in QA
• BE/BTech/ME/MTech in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical discipline, or MCA, from a reputed university.
