Product Analyst

General Summary

Product Analyst works with peers to develop innovative solutions that meet  market needs with respect to functionality, performance, scalability and  reliability. The Product Analyst participates in designing complex, multi-tier enterprise software applications, while adhering to development goals and principles

Essential Job Functions

• Drive requirements and translate into specifications for the Development and QA organizations
     
• Architect solutions to address business needs
• Interface with peer Program Managers in the U.S.
• Determine pain points for customers, sales force by working close to Product Management, Support, PS, Sales and marketing
• Define Scenario’s/requirements to address to pain points in the product
• Write Functional Specifications based on the requirements
• Bring competitor information into process
• Help creating a product roadmap – Understand market needs, get feedback, prioritize and work with Product management
• Create documents/presentations for internal communications on features, TOI
• Give input for external facing documents
• Stay up-to-date about the feature – Have a good understanding of the industry and the competition including future directions
• Participate and contribute in design reviews
• Design and architect prototypes for the next generation of tools/technology to be used in the product
• Give input to the Triage process on as needed basis
• Give support to Beta program on as needed basis

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Excellent understanding of web protocols including http, html, and SSL.
     
• Understanding and experience with XML.
• Strong knowledge of relational databases such as MS SQL and Oracle.
• Good understanding of product life cycle and various phases of product development.
• Strong analysis skills including writing detailed specifications.
• Experience in shipping complex commercial software.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to apply them effectively in a multi-site project.
• Basic knowledge of some or all of the following areas: SQL (T-SQL, PL/SQL), UML, Crystal Reports 9, XML, Web Services, VB, ASP, SQL Server, Oracle 8.x, 9.x, IIS, firewalls, proxies, and general Windows OS and network security. 

Education, Training and Minimum Qualifications

• B.E./B. Tech/M. Tech/MCA, MBA preferred
• Minimum 4 years experience in designing distributed applications in the Enterprise applications market.
